Whangarei Heads
The beautiful Whangarei Heads area starts just a 5 minute drive from The Loft. You will find harbour and ocean beaches, cafes, hiking trails and beautiful mountains to climb!
Our favorite beaches are Ocean Beach and Pataua.
Tutukaka Coast
Just a 30 minute drive from the city centre you can explore stunning beaches like Matapouri, Whangamumu, Whale Bay and Sandy Bay.
Drive through picturesque Ngunguru and visit the Tutukaka Marina for shopping, boat access, cafes and restaurants.
Town Centre
The Whangarei city centre has it all!
Go shopping, watch a movie or visit one of our many restaurants and bars!
Mair Park
Located within a 5 minute drive of the city centre. Mair Park is a great place to visit. Take a bush walk, climb our maunga of Parihaka, take a picnic and sit by the Hatea River. A favorite for walkers and children alike.
For the Kids
For a rainy day, there is Event Cinemas and The Aquatic Centre in the town centre. Or try the Glow in the Dark mini golf or Action Zone Bowling and more... At Glenbervie we have Tree Adventures and there are many playgrounds for all ages.

THE LOOP
Located at the Whangarei Town Basin. The LOOP walk takes roughly 45 minutes to complete. You will meander along the Hatea River, crossing iconic bridges, and enjoying the sites of the Historic shopping centre, stunning art sculptures and much more. Stop for a coffee along the way or a meal.
